Length: 30-34 cm. Plumage: uniformly dark brown except lighter brown tail; head with whitish forehead merging into blue- or lavender-grey cap and below the eye, not distinct form lores. Bare parts: iris brown; relatively long thin bill black; feet and legs brownish black. Habitat: offshore waters, beyond reef, and oceanic islands. Uncommon but regular. Breeds in tropical and sub-tropical Indian Ocean. <389><391><393>
