Sharp-tailed Sandpiper adult Village Creek Drying Beds Tarrant Co., Texas 18 May 1991 This was the first Texas record of this species. Most lower 48 U.S. records are fall juvenile birds, but this was a spring adult. It only remained two days. Another better photo is on the Texas Bird Records Committee of the Texas Ornithological Society web page at: http://texasbirds.org/tbrc/stsa.htm The 2nd shot shows a Pectoral Sandpiper in the background. There are now (2012) three records of Sharp-tailed Sandpiper in Texas.

Very rare, and my first record ever.

This was a good year for vagrants of this species. There was also a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper in nearby Watsonville during this same period.
