Reef heron observed in Port Taranaki. First flew over to the beach in front of the Bach and then flew over to the boat ramp at Chaddy's, feeding along the rock wall. Based on marking on the legs, this is the same young heron observed feeding at the Waiwhakaiho River riffle on 9 April 2016. Video available.

Reef heron observed feeding on the mud flats of the Tongaporutu Estuary. From markings on legs looks like same heron seen earlier on the same day at Rapanui. Flew over to tree stump where it scared off a spoonbill. Then worked it's way upstream along the muddy bank.
