Yeah, the picture useless (I mean, I guess you can see it's dusk...). I mostly just took it to save the time and location where I first noticed the stream of probably 100's of bats. The stream seemed endless the entire time I was walking within sight of it (probably 10-20 minutes) they seemed to be flying from somewhere behind the New Acropol Hotel towards somewhere in the general direction of the mountain. Some swung off in other directions occasionally, but for the most part, they all seemed to be flying on one course. I don't have great depth perception, particularly at night, but I'd guess they were between 6 and 18 inches in body length.

We had been to this park before, 25 Aug 2013, and returned on 4 Nov 2013 to see the bats again. Some of the bats were very active, flying and then landing and hanging again. They were very noisy.

Observing them yesterday night in the same fig tree than former observations, they were very active !

"I don't know the species and the photo is not very close up but there is a huge ""bat tree"" in town with hundreds of bats hanging in it and sometimes suddenly many of them will fly off at the same time."

The picture was taken in Rubavu (Gisenyi), near the lake Kivu shores. The observer who send mi the picture didn't mentioned any quantitative information, only that less trees than usual were occupied by bats.
