Texas cave scorpion. Found mostly dead on bathroom floor. (This is why we wear shoes in the house.) Specimen delivered to Todd Jackson on 2015-Aug-11.

I suppose its an honor to have a Texas endemic cave scorpion as a resident in our house, but then again... This critter just appeared suddenly yesterday in a tray of my Florida shell material that I have been sorting through. I'm quite certain the scorpion didn't hitch a ride from the mangroves of Sanibel. It's the 2nd or 3rd time we've found this species in the house. This was a relatively small individual, no more than about 2 inches long; note the 5-mm-long pink sea urchin spine behind it in the first image. The species gets much bigger.
