Alciopids, maintained separately here at this time, are thought to be part of Phyllodocidae. Alciopidae is formally treated as a synonym of Phyllodocidae in Rouse & Pleijel (2001) and the group of taxa is referred to as the 'Alciopini'. Unfortunately a molecular study appearing to support this (Struck & Halanych, 2010) was found to have erroneous data.
