Found this one at Lytes Cary this morning with a Dicyrtomina ornata on the same leaf. This is a slight crop. It doesn't look quite like S. aureus, but it's in the same Sminthy ballpark. The colours seem right overall, it just didn't had that almost internal glowing golden colour that other ones I've seen have.
Summary[edit] Description: English: Sminthurinus aureus from Butleigh Wootton, England, United Kingdom. Original description on Flickr: I thought I'd do a posed photo for a change rather than my usual ID shots and as there was a distinct lack of S. aureus shots this year so far, here's some to kick it off.. Thought I recognised this from one of Eddie's photos so I went back through my photos. I haven't got any decent photos but this is probably ok for an ID... This brings the total of different globular springtails on my pond up to a possible seven! S. aquaticus, S. malmgreni, Bourletiella arvalis, Dicyrtomina ornata, Dicyrtomina minuta, poss. S. aureus and the unidentified white-banded one. Cool! And when I say 'my pond', I mean actually just 4 inches of my pond...!
