Wisteria sinensis—Chinese wisteria is a woody, deciduous, perennial climbing vine in the genus Wisteria, native to China in the provinces of Guangxi, Guizhou, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi, and Yunnan. It is the common wisteria found in Berkeley, CA. It can be invasive in parts of the American southeast. All parts of the plants are mildly toxic, usually causing no more than an upset stomach but at times much more serious. Photographed in a private garden in Berkeley, CA.
