Position systématique. Cette nouvelle espèce rentre dansla série des Ankistrodesmus à pyrénoides soit dans la sectionClosteriopsis Lemmermann. Cependant la netteté du chroina-tophore spiralé, la visibilité du noyau, la forme de la cellulefont de cet Ankistrodesmus une espèce très particulière aumilieu des Ankistrodesmus à pyrénoides.
