Summary[edit] Description: English: Lupinus texensis (or maybe Lupinus subcarnosus?), found in multiple locations in Texas. “Only saw a few small patches of these during my 200 mile drive. Most were here along Hwy 277 south of Del Rio right before you get to the Sycamore Creek bridge. Another patch was near Campwood and the other was outside Rocksprings. I haven't identified them yet but there were also a bunch of caterpillars on all the bluebonnets eating them. You can see some in these photos I've posted.” A. S. Weakley does not provide an identification key which would allow to distinguish these two species, both of which are common in Texas. Weakley, A. S. 2020. Description: Best viewed large. Here is the caterpillar I mentioned and was not sure of the ID. This was my best guest as to the type of caterpillars that were all over the bluebonnets eating them. There are so many variations of these guys and the one I believe matched the color of this one was a small insert picture and hard to see any detail. Date: 24 March 2007, 11:36.
