Summary[
edit] Description: English: This photo shows young birch trees in spring on the high moor, in the large peat lands of Fochterloerveen in Drenthe, between Smilde and Assen, in the Netherlands. It is one of the best and largest conserved Dutch high moor landscapes. Date: 22 May 2012, 16:36:40. Source: Own work. Author:
Fons Heijnsbroek. The heath - on the forground - is still dark and will start to color in July. The sandy and dry soil in the moor does very well for the birches. Licensing[
