Se caracteriza por tener un contorno circular y un manto con protuberancias anchas y poligonales de color variable, entre marrón, rojizo y anaranjado con líneas rojo carmín que delimitan las gibas poligonales. Indicaciones para el submarinista La bibliografía expone que se le puede encontrar en fondos rocosos, de cascajo, el coralígeno y entre la posidonia. También en cuevas y fondos blandos.
