Combretaceae (rangoon creeper family) Large shrub, a climber, reaching 2-3 m high. Rusty and pubescent young branches with opposite leaves, 7-12 cm, rounded base, ovate, lanceolate, acuminate, tomentose with 1 cm petiole. Without stalk and petals, the pale green flowers with prominent sepals, bloom densely and abundantly in terminal panicles. Strongly nerved and veined, the five hairy sepals 1 cm, looks like thin thermacole wafers! 10 unequal stamens. Older flowers turn to rust colour. The sepals persist with the 8 mm oblong 5 ribbed fruit.
