Gibbens' penstemon (Penstemon gibbensii) is a perennial forb with bright blue flowers that occurs near the intersection of the borders of Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Gibbens' penstemon occurs on barren shale or sandy-clay slopes, which are often steep (20 to 30 degrees), at elevations of 5,360-7,700 feet. Approximately 77 percent of the known distribution occurs on Federal and State land; the remaining distribution occurs on land managed by The Nature Conservancy that includes private lands.
