Found on willows east of Taumarunui. By the look of the road north of Taumarunui I would say it is wide spread in the Whanganui river catchment - there were 'wet' looking patches under willows overhanging the road, the same as what appears under oak trees in the UK when there is honydew produced. I have heard reports that bees are gathering the honeydew this autumn.

Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, Western Springs Park Habitat: Salix fragilis. By stream at back of park. Exactly one year since I first discovered the species, at this same spot, it is still present, but numbers appear to be down to more modest levels. Identification: Tuberolachnus salignus (Gmelin, 1790)

Found a few adults and some small juveniles on a willow tree, which also had sooty mould on many twigs.

heavy infestation on a willow in shopping area

2 small sized patches of aphids on 2 different branches of the willow tree in front of the pond, each approx. 10cm in diameter or so. A lot of wasps on and around the tree is what drew my attention to the area initially.
