This bird was seen by numerous birders at Anahuac NWR. Chunky medium-sized shorebird with orange legs, black bill, buff upper chest, and the oft cocked back feathers.

Greg Lasley found a Ruff (Reeve) at the Williamson Creek WWTP and called me. I was able to get out there in late afternoon; I made this field sketch of the bird. The record was later accepted as the 6th Texas record of the species (TBRC 1988-6; Amer. Birds 37:200). The WWTP was later abandoned and converted into part of the Roy Kizer Golf Course. An eBird checklist for this day is available at: http://ebird.org/ebird/tx/view/checklist?subID=S16922351
