A common deepwater dogfish of the outer continental shelves and upper slopes. Feeds on bony fish, including lanternfish, bramids, carangids, worm-eels, bonito, hairtails, oilfishes, as well as other sharks, squids, octopi, shrimps, and tunicates. Ovoviviparous, number of young 2 per litter.
