Nesting Mussel. Species has the habit of making a byssus thread nest, this then joins to form clusters with neighbouring ones . Storms occasionally dislodge clumps of these nests, with animals still attached. Dwell under rocks at low tide. Specimens with some periostracum still visible on shell.
