Imperial Cone

Conus imperialis Linnaeus 1758

A thick shell, up to 10 cm, with flat but nodular spire and and shoulders. Colour cream with many bands of dark brown dots and dashes, and two wider brown bands also bearing dots and dashes. Base brown and aperture white. Habitat: on shallow sand around reefs. Distribution: Indo-Pacific (Richmond, 1997).
