Several small flocks of parakeets seen in the forests on Tiritiri, but this individual was the only one that didn't fly away as I approached. It was sitting out in the open, eating meadow grass.

male at entrance to nest in Fuchsia excorticata. The mesh visible at the base of the hole had been placed to discourage kaka from using the hole years earlier. The same trunk has an artificial nest box attached which I was monitoring at the time this wee fulla turned up.

Kakariki was first heard, then seen feeding on wineberry. The sounds of the fruit dropping from the tree sounded like rain.

More diaspora from Zealandia. I saw a couple dart over head. Heard them chattering in the trees, eventually came across a couple in a tree near the stream. But they were being a bit camera shy.

Kakariki feeding on top of some trees as viewed through a gap from the forest floor below. Not sure what they were feeding on but there were muehlenbeckia vines growing over a canopy of mahoe trees, plus other natives that have clusters of dark seeds. Terrible quality, but in this case an animated sequence gives something much easier to id than any one of the still frames that just show patches of green through a green canopy and the odd splash of red. (changed animation to a version slowed down from 25 frames per second to 10 frames per second)
