Bird led the way along the dam access road for about 500m, flying from tree to tree, staying about 50m ahead of me. Seemed to keep waiting for me to catch up before it moved on.

Saved himself from our cats. Came home to him in hall with enough vigour to bite my son and hold for a few seconds. Put him outside on tramp and in morning he flew away.

Bird was flying frequently between two reserve signs (10m apart), swooping down on to the grass to catch an insect before landing on the opposing sign to eat the catch. The bird poo trail on the signs evidence of regular occupation.
