Seen at the bottom of Blackcomb Glacier at Whistler Blackcomb, BC, Canada, in March. There were lots of whisky jacks flying round; this was a bit bigger than them. I thought it might be some kind of woodpecker or flicker but I couldn't match it to any photos I found. Thanks to the commenter below for IDing.

Clark’s Nutcrackers depend heavily on pine seeds, but they will also eat insects and carrion. The individual in the recording is heard giving a series of harsh, shrill calls.
