Colonies are shaped like pine trees, with bottlebrush radiating branches of variable length. Colour: yellow or cream with pale branch tips. Abundance: very common and often dominant on fringing reefs of continental islands where it may form extensive monospecific stands. Also common in lagoons on some lower reef slopes (Veron, 1986).
