Identification

provided by World Register of Marine Species
E. viridis (L.) is a boreal species. According to Bonse et al. (1996), specimens obtained from the English Channel, Normandy, and also from Newcastle upon Tyne are referable to E. clavigera (Audouin & Milne-Edwards, 1833), but specimens from Denmark and Northern Germany were indeed Eulalia viridis. Obviously determinations to either species in these areas of possible overlap need to be made carefully.
