Maximum longevity: 26.3 years (captivity)
Observations: The yak reaches full size in 6-8 years. In the wild, these animals have been estimated to live up to 25 years (Ronald Nowak 1999). One captive specimen was still living after 26.3 years (Richard Weigl 2005).
