I was surprised to find a dead deer lying in a ditch along Sparks Road, between the suburbs of Halswell and Hoon Hay. This is X-files bizarre. I have no idea why someone would have dumped this carcass here. Or did someone hit it in a car? Fallow deer are not a common species in New Zealand either. Very odd.
