Summary[edit] Description: The biggest leaves here are as much as 10 ins long and the flowers heads are up to about six inches across (see the Crocosmia there for scale.) It's only real fault is that it can look a bit leggy - lots of tall bristly peeling stems with all the foliage and flowers at the ends but there's not much you can do about that. Pruning it just makes it look miserable. Just try to give it lots of space and let it fill out naturally. Date: 11 August 2010, 13:12. Source: Hydrangea aspera sargentiana. Summary[edit] Description: Not for the smallest gardens, this wacking great Hydrangea is spectacular at this time of year. This one's on almost pure peat but I saw it on the chalk up at Stanmer the other week too and looking just as good. It likes some shade and shelter but otherwise is extremely adaptable.
