En la Pennsula Ibrica es ms frecuente en el NE, Pirineos y Prepirineos, alcanzando por el S las montaas del SW de Jan. En el tercio occidental de la Pennsula se encuentra naturalizado de antiguo. En Aragn aparece comn por todo el Pirineo, bajando a la Depresin del Ebro por el Prepirineo hasta Fraga, Lanaja, Ejea de los Caballeros, etc. En el Sistema Ibrico aparecen buenas poblaciones en los Puertos de Beceite y Gdar-Maestrazgo, encontrndose tambin en la Sierra de Albarracn y, muy rara, en el Moncayo.Hbitat: Forma matorrales, a veces cas monospecficos, y orlas de bosques mixtos (encinares, quejigares, pinares, robledales, etc.), en reas hmedas de montaa, sobre suelos preferentemente pedregosos de naturaleza caliza. Tambin coloniza cascajares, crestones, graveras, cantiles y taludes. Aunque parece soportar bien tanto climas clidos como fros, al descender de las montaas busca el frescor de las umbras y desaparece totalmente cuando las lluvias, especialmente las de verano, escasean siendo sustitudo muchas veces por la coscoja como puede observarse en los somontanos del Pirineo.Preferencia edfica: Basfila, Aunque prefiere suelos de naturaleza bsica, ocasionalmente puede colonizar esquistos o granitos.Rango altitudinal: ( 190 ) 400- 2000 ( 2150 ) mFloracin: Febrero - AbrilForma Biolgica: Nanofanerfito perennifolioExtractado del Atlas de la Flora de Aragn (Herbario de Jaca)
