This species has become common at University Beach, Ward Island, in recent months. Small specimens are common and colorful. The shell is wide but it becomes more elongate and oblique as the shell grows. Adult shells are quite large, but not common at this location.

One worn valve.

With these three valves you can see how the shape of the shell changes as the animal matures. The juvenile shells are much more circular. It's called allometric growth.
