This butterfly seems to have two different scientific names. I selected the one that is used on Dallasbutterflies.com. I didn't get a very good picture of it as I was pretty far from it when I saw it and it was noon time sun. It was the first time for me to see this particular butterfly.

habitat: Edwards Plateau location: Edwards county 10 miles North of Rocksprings soil: EcF- Eckrant Rock complex, PeB Prade-Eckrant complex and TeA Tarrant-Eckrant complex Limestone with cobbly silty clay soil layer. elevation ~2300' oak spp.,Texas Persimmon and yaupon thickets. Open areas primarily Prickly Pear, Agarita and Optunia leptocaulis. Grazed by cattle, whitetailed deer and Axis deer. Dug pond and water troughs with year around water.
