I was not able to find any image of O. schmackeri tadpoles, but since they breed in streams and rivers and were seen next to this river with tadpoles in it, I assumed these tadpoles to be of O. schmackeri. Xingping, Guangxi
I have been trying to find this little guy for some time now. A very very alert frog. Always deep inside the thickest of bushes. Moreover he would make it almost impossible for me to find him by stopping his call on the slightest movement. Finally I got lucky yesterday :-)Species Information here: www.iucnredlist.org/details/summary/58928/0
A.C.R. Cordillera Escalera, San Martn, Peru. At the same pond as D. minutus, there could be found ca. 5 specimens of A. hulli sitting on trunks in the water or on overhanging leaves and some egg nests.
These harlequin frogs, listed critically endangered by IUCN, were fairly abundant on a path in the A.C.R. Cordillera Escalera during the day. Since they only live around the upper ro Huallaga valley, where many suitable habitats have been destroyed, these beautiful frogs are fighting extinction.
