Hydnellum ferrugineum (Fr.) P. Karst... or a very close species fruiting in pine-needle floor parts of our pine forest. These fungi are very unusual and beautiful with their velvety rust-coloured surface and cranberry-juice-like drops of metabolic liquid. Small twigs and debris are often incorporated in the fruitbody as it grows.

This "mushroom" is a basidiomycota that means its reproductive structure is a basidia (like the other common mushrooms), but in this case is a fungi from a different family "telephoraceae" well know for the leathery texture. When is matured it expels tiny red drops that seems to be blood, which is the reason for the name "ferrugineum", ferrum-iron-red.
