Monotypic family. Rouse and Pleijel (2001:116) do not perpetuate the family name Ichthyotomidae, pointing out that Eisig himself was able to not use the family name in his original description, only once mentioning it. However, pending further study, placement of the genus elsewhere is uncertain.
