Asphodeline lutea is a well known Mediterranean species. In the Negev Desert highlands there is a disjunct population that survives in rocky areas of high altitudes. It doesn't bloom here every year, when it does. it is in very much contrast to its dry environment. In Israel it is a protected species.
This pic was taken in Maale Arod in the western part of the Ramon crater, 900m.
