Elizabeth and I went to Mallard Cove Park to see how much it rained last night. Turns out it rained a lot! We spotted some neat critters here today too.

"I need help here! Tentative ID Polistes exclamans. All the field points, and there are a lot, say this is P. exclamans: antennae, leg color and pattern, abdomen color and pattern, face, thorax anterior. Then comes our problem. Every P. exclamans alive, on a pin, or in photos we have seen all have two yellow strips at the top, posterior of the thorax. This critter is solid yellow all the way around, with a symmetric orange blotch on each side and a brown fancy ""T"" shape at the mid line. What is it if it's not P. exclamans?"

In our bedroom shower stall.

At lunch, I also stopped by this little trail to look around. Saw only a few things today here -- it was quite windy.
