This thing was on the floor at the Hardwick center. It had a red thorax and was black on the rest of it's body. It was a fairly good sized spider but was missing two of it's eight legs. It was a very beautiful spider and it is one I have never seen before. After I took several photos I took it outside on a piece of paper and did it very carefully. It was a very fast spider too missing a couple of legs didn't slow it down at all. The red spot was very attractive and my eyes went right to it. It was bright and was about the size of the whole length of the thorax.

Or maybe Castianeira descripta? However, I can't see any white stripes on posterior tibia. Any suggestions? Update: IDed on BugGuide. http://bugguide.net/node/view/1236538#2189730

Found indoors, first mistaken for a Carpenter Ant. Picture not very good since he moved around a lot. Total body length ~6-7 mm.
