A Gem of a new moth! + another new MicroOn Wednesday night, I set-up the trap for the last time until Sunday night, as we are currently having a lovely weekend away.Although it rained most of the night and the trap was full of wasps come the morning...it was all very much worth it, with my first ever UK Gem, I was so excited to get this moth and am astonished how it got past all of the town and factory lights to end up in the bottom of my trap. The new Micro was Stenolechia gemmella, thinking it was initially a Carpatolechia species, it turned out to be this pretty species.

A pretty tricky customerAnother warm and muggy night and another quality catch with plenty to smile about and some different moths to compliment the garden list so far.An initial headache over a very pretty micro moth lasted a good hour pondering books, websites and my own photos, the conclusion was a form of Epinotia nisella that I hadn't seen before.A mint Tawny-speckled Pug was probably my favourite moth of the night.Parachronistis albiceps was a good record of a species that is becoming more frequent.Trap out again tomorrow night.Catch Report - 26/07/14 - Back Garden Stevenage - 1x 125w MV Robinson TrapMacro Moths1x Knot Grass [NFY] 1x Lime-speck Pug [NFY]1x Swallow Prominent [NFY]1x Tawny Speckled Pug [NFY]4x Black Arches1x Bright-line Brown-eye1x Brimstone Moth1x Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing1x Buff Footman1x Cabbage Moth1x Cloaked Minor1x Common Carpet10x Common Rustic1x Dark Arches1x Dingy Footman5x Dot Moth1x Double Square-spot2x Dun-bar2x Dusky Sallow1x Dwarf Cream Wave 1x Elephant Hawk-moth2x Flame Shoulder2x Flounced Rustic1x Green Pug2x Haworth's Pug1x Heart & Dart2x Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing2x Lesser Yellow Underwing1x Maple Prominent4x Maple Pug1x Marbled Beauty1x Mottled Beauty2x Nut-tree Tussock1x Poplar Hawk-moth1x Red Twin-spot Carpet19x Riband Wave1x Ruby Tiger1x Scalloped Oak1x Shaded Pug3x Shuttle-shaped Dart1x Small Fan-footed Wave1x Small Rivulet1x Snout1x Straw Dot2x Straw Underwing2x Uncertain3x Willow Beauty1x Yellow Shell Micro Moths 1x Paraswammerdamia albicapitella [NFG]1x Epinotia nisella [NFG]1x Parachronistis albiceps [NFG]1x Hofmannophila pseudospretella [NFY]1x Acleris variegana [NFY]1x Cacoecimorpha pronubana [NFY]2x Splionota laricana [NFY]1x Euzophera pinguis [NFY]1x Apotomis betuletana [NFY]5x Carcina quercana21x Blastobasis adustella1x Pyrausta aurata1x Pammene aurita1x Acleris forsskaleana1x Agriphila tristella1x Zeiraphera isertana1x Evergestis forficalis2x Argyrotaenia ljungiana2x Parornix sp1x Cameraria ohridella1x Oegoconia sp1x Blastobasis lacticolella1x Pseudargyrotoza conwagana2x Athrips mouffetella1x Caloptilia betulicola1x Ditula angustiorana7x Agriphila straminella5x Gysonoma dealbana1x Conobathra repandana1x Agonopterix alstromeriana2x Phycita roborella2x Trachycera advenella3x Trachycera suavella8x Dipleurina lacustrata6x Endotricha flammealis4x Chrysoteuchia culmella 2x Pleuroptya ruralis10x Spilonota ocellana1x Eurrhypara hortulata1x Acleris schalleriana2x Argyrotaenia ljungiana3x Cydia splendana4x Argyesthia goedartella1x Yponomeuta evonymella1x Clepsis consimilana2x Batia unitella2x Epiphyas postvittana1x Pandemis corylana4x Plutella xylostella
