Elizabeth and I went driving around on Sunday. She had the day off, so of course, we go outside to explore! :) We went to this park again -- it's a great one: Eagle Mountain Park. @nathantaylor7583 -- I know you are super into these whiptails! :)

Found foraging in grassy undergrowth in the forest adjacent to the creek.
-
Large male was observed chasing 3 smaller lizards on a concrete pad.
-
One of three smaller lizards being chased by a large male.
-
Saw grass rustling and identified it as likely to be a whiptail; chased it around a field until it stopped for long enough to take a picture of it. Extremely quick but prone to stopping to check on its pursuit.

Stengl Lost Pines, TX 80F, 68% Hum, Sunny Seen moving along the side of a small dirt trail through pine/oak woodlands with relatively dense underbrush, generally staying just under the thinner edge of the brush. The ground here is slightly sandy, but there is a dense litter of oak leaves and pine needles. Attempted to noose it several times unsuccessfully; it remained tolerant of our relatively near presence for a good ten minutes and through several successful noosings but unsuccessful retrievals. Eventually it moved into denser cover further from the path, and we gave up. Estimated as similar in size to another our group caught earlier in the day at a nearby location (8cm SVL). Another of the same species was seen briefly very nearby towards the end of the period we spent trying to catch this one (that one slightly smaller than this, and about 20ft away on the other side of the path). It had recently rained heavily, so much of the path itself was flooded or muddy.

My first time to photograph this species, although I think I've seen them a few times over the years.
