(Notornis) mantelli is known only from subfossil remains, and they were long considered conspecific (Wikipedia--Takahe).

This subspecies of the Plumbeous Rail is found in central Chile and adjacent Argentina, with names such as Piden and Rascon Plomizo. This one has both adult and juvenile features.
