Summary[edit] Description: English: Takahe in Zealandia Ecoreserve, Wellington The Takahe is the world's largest Rail species. It neared extinction in the 20th century, but conservation efforts like those at Zealandia ecosanctuary are helping to bring it back from the brink. It is still extremely vulnerable to mammalian predators (stoats in particular) though, so reintroduction to the wild is difficult. Date: 2 May 2017, 12:43:06.
