I saw at least 7. Caught one. There were definitely more in or around the pond, mainly where there was vegetation on the banks and in the water. Many were calling loudly.

This toad was found in the thick brush along the shore of the shallow, flat, and wet bank of the pond at the Stengl Research Center. The toad was calling very loudly and extending the skin along its throat in an effort to court females. Up to 10 other toads of the same species were calling at the same time. These toads were mostly found in the thick underbrush, indicating that they prefer to court with some coverage as opposed to out in the open. As soon as I put the toad down, he began calling again, not wasting any time getting back to work.
Found swimming on shore at pond at Stengl Lost Pines Research station. Toad was calling, along with many others in the area. Toad also puffed up in defense.
