At least two, rather skittish, grasshoppers observed on this sunny patch of vegetation and scree. Approaching humans caused them to jump away, and this movement, combined with their conflicting bright green colour meant they did not go unnoticed. When observed behaving in a non-fleeing manner, they were seen to walk over the scree as opposed to jumping. These two photos were taken on the long end of a macro range (Series One Vivitar lens) using a monopod for some stability - but I'd have preferred to take more time and get physically closer for the shots - oh well, hopefully they'll be of interest. Altitude was approx. via iPhone app but seems about right.
