This was a nice addition to my yard list. Compare the third image with the first. It was taken on Oct. 6 and shows the same exact individual moth, having suffered the loss of part of a HW in the 24-hour interim. This batch of October records is dedicated to the memory of Charles Bordelon (1958 - 2016) whose contributions to Texas lepidoptery are immeasurable. Iâve already encountered a half dozen new species at my porchlight/blacklights in October plus a couple of other very infrequent speces. I have a large number of other October uploads, but I wanted to get this set of new and uncommon species up firstâbefore we get swamped with Big Thicket stuff. The rest will come later.

We gathered with around 25 other iNatters for the Big Thicket BioBlitz -- it was the best time ever to explore with fellow naturalists. On this night, we had several stations of night lights to attract moths and nocturnal critters.

We gathered with around 25 other iNatters for the Big Thicket BioBlitz -- it was the best time ever to explore with fellow naturalists. For our second evening, we got together and grilled some hot dogs and set up the moth light again -- this time at the sundew trail. Many of these ID's are tentative -- I'll have to work a bunch on them later. Lots of new things for me! :)

Pale-edged Selenisa (Selenisa sueroides) fairly uncommon in central Texas. @gcwarbler had this species recently: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/4327877 and identified this one for me. This was the first for my place in Hays Co.
