Wheke Spotting 101 - Practical Assessment Part B The purpose of this assessment is to ensure that the student can spot a wheke without guidence. While @pjd1 and I were fluffing around in the shallow subtidal, without prompting he spotted this little tricky wheke that has tucked itself well under the rocks. The first photo shows how well hiden it was and I would not have seen it if it had not been pointed out to me. The second photo, while blurry with all of the sediment floating around does show the eyes to enable a species ID. Assessment Mark: A+ as well as 3 gold stars for finding this one as I would not have seen it Part A of the assessment is spotting a wheke with guidence - but that is another story which can be found here :) (Note: the location of this wheke was not in the sand but that is what the gps put the location as and I can not change it. Seems not only are there many living things up here that are tricky even getting accurate gps locations can also be tricky - surprise! *LOL*)

"Never really noticed how there is a ""cear bubble"" over the eyes of a wheke before, as seen in the first photo. I have also realised why these are common to find for me @pjd1 - one of the venacular names is Maori octopus *LOL*"
