This seemed to be the first record of this Family in Indonesia! The next relatives live in Singapore (only one specimen from 1930), South India and northern Australia.I found this larva (L: ~1.5cm) beneath the loose but intact bark of a living tree in the tiny patch of lowland rainforest called Dungus Iwul in the west of Java. This larva is supposed to be a nonspecific ambush predator [COSTA
et al., 2006];next to this larva the were a couple of Handsome Fungus beetles:
