White-headed Stilts in the middle of the huge Artist's Palette at Wai-o-tapu, which offers a safe resting place and is rich in invertebrates to eat as well. (Kiwis call them Pied Stilts, but apparently the rest of the world used to call them White-headed Stilts. Except that it looks like Clements 6th edition has now adopted Pied Stilt for these.)

3 birds at a fenced off wasteland area. I think one bird was on a nest. Have seen Pied stilt chicks at this location in previous years.
