This morning a pair of ducks landed and stayed on our pond for little over two hours. When I told my husband and he came over to look they were gone, but shortly after, popped up- that's when we took notice- lots of time underwater. Got out the binoculars and what was striking was the white markings on their bills! Especially the male- bright white at the end and where his bill met his feathers. Beautiful, strong white pattern on his sides. First sighting of this type of duck. Used National Audubon Field Guide to New England to identify.
