A Thomas' Yellow Bat (Rhogeessa io) gives us a two thumbs up! This bat is tiny. Weighing in at 4-5 grams, this is probably Trinidad's smallest species of bat. This little fellow was captured, precessed, and released in the Caroni Swamp, Trinidad, by a Trinibats team led by Luke Rostant. (Trinibats)

Walking North from Mission Rocks, iSimangaliso Park we found a small cave full of Egyptian Rousette Fruit Bats. It is a natural bat colony which apparently have been living there for generations. They established themselves in a small cave along Perriers Rock right on the beach. The cave can only be accessed during low tides. It was impossible to count, but I estimate about 400-500 bats.
