In the pristine Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia, the rare Kermode or Spirit Bear is found. It is an American Black Bear with a recessive gene causing a very few to have a white coat. This Kermode is watching salmon spawning in Riordan Creek.

14 harbor seals were hauled out on the dock on Dec. 12. The numbers are increasing, as is typical at this time of year.

Record number of harbor seals, 38, observed hauled out on the old dock. This is almost double the peak numbers seen by observers in the last couple of years. Most probably, a sudden cold snap caused more seals to take refuge on the dock on Christmas Day.
