Description: I first thought this was Tonicella lineata (Lined chiton, but thanks to Chitons, I now have the correct name. Note the stiff hairs on the edge. The lined chiton has a smooth edge. Also the lines in the middle are not nearly as distinct nor colorful as the lined chiton. Date: 24 October 2007, 16:34. Source: Mopalia mucosa. Author: Jerry Kirkhart from Los Osos, Calif.
Summary[edit] Description: This is a Cryptochiton which has the flesh almost gone around its dorsal exposed plates.
